Zervas Eleftherios
I was born in Athens in 1970. I graduated in 1993 from the Medical School of the University of Crete and specialized in Pulmonology, initially at the Pulmonology Clinic of the 401 Army Hospital and then at the 5th Pulmonology Clinic of Athens Chest Hospital SOTIRIA. In 2003 I obtained the specialty title of Pulmonology. For 4 years (from 2004 to 2007) I worked as Pulmonologist at Corinth Hospital. In March 2008, I was appointed as Consultant Pulmonologist at the 7th Pulmonology Clinic of Athens Chest Hospital SOTIRIA where I work until today. In September 2021 I was appointed temporary head of the 7th Pulmonology Clinic, while in 09/2023 I was elected as Coordinating Director of the clinic. Also, from 02/2022 I am Director of the Medical Service of Athens Chest Hospital SOTIRIA.
In 2010, I trained in intervetional bronchoscopy in Italy, at the Azienda Ospedali Riuniti center, under Professor Stefano Gasparini. My clinical and research work focuses on obstructive diseases – asthma and COPD, lung cancer and diagnostic and interventional bronchoscopy. I oversee a busy outpatient asthma clinic as well as the Central Bronchoscopic Unit “Christos Gagas” – the largest in Greece with over 2000 bronchoscopies per year. I have been actively involved in the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer for 15 years and I am a member of the Lung – Thoracic Oncology Board at SOTIRIA Hospital.
I have been a member of HTS and ERS since 2003. while since 10/2020 I am secretary general of HTS. I have 63 publications in international journals and numerous presentations and invited speeches at Greek and international conferences.
