Politis Yannis
Ioannis Politis, journalist, and political analyst with 40 years of professional experience, was elected in October 2023 with an increased majority by the Hellenic Parliament to serve as vice-president of the National Council for Radio and Television (NCRTV).
He started his career in the newspaper “TA NEA” where he worked for 30 years as a political columnist and head of its electronic edition. He joined MEGA Channel since its start and worked for 14 years as a political editor, head of the Political Reporters team and news anchorman. He served as General Manager of Athens 9.84, City and Vima FM radio stations. He also worked for the Greek Public Television (ERT) as a political commentator in the Evening News and as News Magazine anchor.
He worked as columnist for “REAL News” newspaper, political analyst in Real FM radio station, anchor of the x2 news show in Action24 Channel and Evening Report in One Channel, editor of “Politisonline” site, editor of the weekly newspaper Action Press as well as spokesman for the European Public Law Organization (EPLO). He has taken part as moderator and speaker in many conferences.
He taught the course “Information Sources” at the Department of Communication & Media Studies of the Athens & Kapodistrian University. He has delivered seminars at Panteion University of Social & Political Sciences and the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has served as Vice President at the Ionian Islands Technological Educational Institute and is an honorary professor at the Ionian University in the Department of Communication and Digital Media.
He is Ambassador of Special Olympics Hellas and of the Association of Social Responsibility for Children and Youth (SKEP).
He has received awards by:
– The Athanassios V. Botsis Foundation for the Advancement of Journalism for “the comprehensive and objective presentation of his work, the success with several political report exclusives and his overall presence on television”
– The Hellenic Union of Heptanesians, in the context of the “2nd award ceremony for distinguished personalities from the Ionian Islands”, held on the 150th anniversary of the Ionian Islands union with Greece.
– The Union of Attica Mayors “for his objectivity as a journalist” while the Lefkada City bestowed the honorary citizenship for his overall services and contribution to the island.
He was born in 1961 in Meganisi, Lefkada. He has an MBA (East London University) and a BA in Communication & Mass Media (Queen Margaret University)
