Klimatsidas Michael
Dr. Michalis Klimatsidas is a Thoracic Surgeon and Head of the Thoracic Surgery Department at St. Luke’s Hospital in Thessaloniki, Greece, where he leads the programs of Minimally Invasive and Robotic Thoracic Surgery (Uniportal VATS & RATS). He is a graduate of the Military Medical School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where he also completed a Master’s and a PhD in Medical Research and Methodology. He trained in the United Kingdom at the Golden Jubilee Hospital in Glasgow and the Glenfield Hospital in Leicester, specializing in advanced thoracic surgical techniques and ECMO. He is a member of the GMC (UK Specialist Register), the STS (Society of Thoracic Surgeons), and the Medical Association of Thessaloniki. He has extensive teaching experience, training young surgeons and actively participating in journal clubs and educational workshops. He has presented and published numerous scientific papers at international conferences and journals, including ISMICS. Dr. Klimatsidas is the creator of the innovative TERPE (Totally Endoscopic Repair of Pectus Excavatum) technique, developed in collaboration with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He has long-standing experience in both Greece and abroad and has organized several medical teams. He has also participated in multiple international training programs in Robotic and Minimally Invasive Surgery. He is recognized for his dedication to innovation, patient safety, and continuous surgical improvement. He speaks fluent English and Greek and represents Greece in international scientific fora.
