Karathanos Babis
Pharmacist, Special Advisor on Pharmaceutical Policy to the Minister of Health
Babis Karathanos is a pharmacist. He holds a degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Athens. Since January 2024, he has served as Special Advisor on Pharmaceutical Policy to the Minister of Health, bringing extensive experience in pharmaceutical policy.
He is a member of the Drug Price Negotiation Committee of the Ministry of Health in Greece. Previously, he served as Advisor on pharmaceutical policy to the Ministers of Health during 2013–2015 and 2021–2023.
He owns and operates a pharmacy. From 2005 to 2009, he held the role of Vice President at the General Hospital of Western Attica “Agia Varvara.”
He actively participates in conferences and workshops, focusing on topics related to drug price negotiation, reimbursement models, and strategies to improve patient access to therapies, taking on roles as coordinator and speaker at events within the healthcare sector.
He is an elector of the Panhellenic Pharmaceutical Association and a member of the organization “Farmakopoioi tou Kosmou.”
