Foukas Periklis
Periklis FOUKAS, MD, PhD, born in Athens, Greece, graduated with a medical degree from the School of Medicine, University of Ioannina and received his Ph.D from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), Athens, Greece. He joined the faculty of the NKUA in 2007, and he is α Professor of Pathology. For 3 years (01/09/2013 – 31/08/2016) he joined as visiting Professor the Department of Oncology & Ludwig Cancer Research Center, University of Lausanne, Lausanne, Switzerland where he was responsible of the Immune Landscape Laboratory within the Center of Experimental Therapeutics at the Department of Oncology.
His expertise in Surgical Pathology is in the field of Hematopathology, Lung and GI pathology. He is responsible of the divisions of Haematopathology and Molecular Pathology at the 2nd Department of Pathology in Attikon University Hospital.
His main research interests are related to the investigation of the contribution of the immune system as a barrier of tumor development and progression and the identification of biomarkers of clinical benefit by using as tools multiplexed bright-field or fluorescence immuno-histochemistry and the multispectral imaging technologies for data acquisition and analysis.
